I work in partnership with parents / carers to meet the needs of the children, both individually and as a group. Information is shared.

·

I have a written agreement with parents which sets out the expectations of both parties as to the care of the child, activities provided and business arrangements - I draw up a ‘Childminding Contract’ before the child joins my setting.

·

I seek parent’s views about their child’s preferences and aptitudes and any other relevant information which is required in order to provide good quality care for the child - I use a ‘Parent / Childminder Interview Form’ and a ‘Parent’s Questionnaire’.

·

I inform parents about my routines and childcare practices and give parents the opportunity to exchange information about their child on a daily basis. Any concerns raised are dealt with promptly and I keep a record of any complaints made - I keep a ‘Daily Diary’ for under 3’s; I have a ‘Complaints Policy and Procedure’ in place and produce a quarterly ‘Newsletter’ for parents. I have a variety of leaflets and booklets which provide more information on the activities we take part in.

·

I keep a record of parents and emergency contact details together with G P contact details and appropriate signed consent forms - I use a ‘Child’s Information Record Form’ together with consent forms for seeking emergency medical advice or treatment; to take a child out in my car for routine outings and local short journeys; photographic; observations; applying sun protection cream and for use of outdoor play equipment.

·

I am aware of the need to maintain privacy and confidentiality - I have a ‘Confidentiality Policy’ in place. I have also registered with the ‘Information Commissioner’s Office’ under the Data Protection Act 1998.

·

Children are only released from my care to individuals named by the parent - I ensure I have met those named prior to this taking place. Alternatively I may use other acceptable and mutually agreed forms of identification.

·

A copy of my most recent Ofsted ‘Inspection Report’ is made available to all parents. This was in November 2005 and I was graded ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. Where I have been given notice of an inspection. I will let parents know the date in advance.
